Pearce Center for Professional Communication Internship Development Plan: A Client Project

Overview: This client project fulfilled one of the larger requirements set for MAPC students. As a graduating student with plans to enter industry upon completing the program, I selected the project option over the publishable article. For this project, I created a deliverable (a development plan) for a professional client (Ashley C. Fisk, Pearce Center Assistant Director). This section includes my scholarly defense of this work.

Software Used: Microsoft Word

Semester Completed: Fall 2013-Spring 2014 academic year

In addition to the Professional Communication competency, the following were gained:

  • Sufficient knowledge of Scholarship and Empirical Research Design methods

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills

ABSTRACT:

The Pearce Center for Professional Communication promotes effective communication as an integral part of the learning process. In an effort to promote Writing Across the Curriculum and Writing Across the Disciplines, the Pearce Center Internship Program offers semester-long internships for Clemson University students of all majors. The program seeks students who aim to learn, engage, and collaborate in an interactive and professional environment. This client project serves as a curriculum development plan for the Internship Program that will guide future Pearce Center graduate assistant(s) during their facilitation of the program. This user guide or standard operating procedure will allow the Pearce Center graduate assistant(s) to administer the program, answer frequently asked questions of the program, and facilitate the weekly internship meetings without the routine supervision and/or guidance from Pearce Center Assistant Director Ashley Cowden Fisk.
